Account deletion
Last reviewed August 15, 2026
Students and Parents can request and finish permanent account deletion on the web. This public page explains the path. It does not delete an account by itself.
Who can request deletion in-product
- Students — yes, from Student account settings while signed in.
- Parents — yes, from Parent account settings while signed in.
- Admin and Reviewer staff accounts — not through self-service deletion; those need an administrator-managed access review.
How deletion works
- Sign in as the Student or Parent whose account should be deleted.
- Open Profile / settings / help and choose Start account deletion.
- Type DELETE exactly (capital letters, no quotes). LowKey immediately suspends the account and signs it out everywhere.
- On the secure finish page, complete every fresh sign-in check listed for the account. A password account needs its current password. Connected Apple and Google options each need a fresh check from that exact provider.
- Type DELETE again and choose Permanently delete my LowKey account. Save the request reference shown on screen.
What happens right away
- LowKey records a deletion request.
- The account is suspended and can no longer stay signed in.
- Active sessions for that account are revoked.
- The secure finish credential stays in an HttpOnly browser cookie and expires after 24 hours. It is never placed in page JavaScript or browser storage.
If the secure finish credential expires, the account remains suspended. Contact support; LowKey does not claim that an expired request restores the account.
What permanent deletion does
After every required proof succeeds, LowKey removes the account's sign-in identities, contact settings, roles, active Parent connections, and mutable Student practice and progress records. The account record is de-identified and cannot sign in. Limited de-identified legal, safety, audit, and financial history may be kept when needed to meet legal duties, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or keep required transaction records.
If you register again, LowKey creates a new account. Old progress, Parent connections, entitlements, and sessions are not restored.
Apple and Google sign-in
Deleting a LowKey account does not delete your Apple Account or Google Account. Removing LowKey from Apple or Google account settings also does not start a LowKey account-deletion request. Start the LowKey request in the app as described above. Contact support if you need help with a connected sign-in provider. During completed deletion, LowKey removes its provider mapping. For Apple-connected accounts, LowKey also requires a fresh Apple authorization code and fails closed unless Apple token revocation succeeds.
LowKey uses Google only for account identity in this flow and does not receive a Google API access token to revoke. Completed deletion removes LowKey's Google identity mapping and clears Google automatic account selection in the browser when available.
Disconnecting Apple or Google from signed-in settings removes that sign-in link only; it is separate from deleting the LowKey account. LowKey asks the provider to verify the exact account, refuses a disconnect that would lock you out, and signs out all LowKey sessions after a successful disconnect.
